Hit a drum circle to find out about specific workshops!
What to expect…

Josh will arrive with a friendly greeting and a trailer brimming with instruments, from which he will select the most suitable for the group.
Chairs will be arranged in a circle or semi-circle so everyone feels equally included and every instrument’s voice can be heard.
If required, there will be a brief introduction to the instruments and how to get the best sound out of them, as well as advice on how to avoid possible injury.
He may also give a quick demonstration of some of the visual and aural guiding cues that will be used throughout the session – this helps ensure that once the playing experience starts, it can continue with minimum need for stops and interruptions.

The workshops can take various forms, depending on the preference of the group
For groups who are having the session as a one-off experience, either as an introduction to drumming or simply for fun, the sessions are very focussed on creativity, energy and enjoyment. This will involve simple and accessible tips for how you could approach coming up with your own rhythms, interspersed with visual cues and live examples, creating different dynamics, different sections to the overall composition and to introduce new rhythms and ideas. The overall outcome is an all-inclusive, completely organic experience which is unique to each group.

No one is stretched beyond their limits and those involved feel that the overall sound and vibe are very much their own.
Josh is adept at reading a group, assessing what they need in terms of guidance, and taking them where they want to go. Workshop participants often finish on an ultimate high with a feeling of disbelief at the quality of what they’ve produced both as a group and as an individual in a relatively short space of time.
The beauty of the workshops is that no one is left behind or made to feel intimidated. Everyone can play at their own comfort level, making it an excellent group activity which gets people’s endorphins flowing and leaves everyone feeling positive.

Some groups may wish to have a more structured approach where they learn set parts for a performance-ready piece, for example; a school group learning a piece ready for a performance to parents at the end of the week. This experience is certainly something that DrumNation can offer.
Workshops can also be tailored towards team-building, using drums as the means for a group to work together to achieve an ultimate musical goal.
No matter your requirement, you can be sure that a DrumNation workshop will be conducted with positive vibes, a gentle and easy-to-understand teaching style, and always with the interests and enjoyment of the group at its core.
The session will come to a climactic close with a collective release of breath and a circle of happy faces.
